Roger Hruby ’58

Chemistry major

After graduating with his chemistry degree, Roger Hruby put his scientific background to work by founding a specialty chemical company, CFC International Inc. A key supplier to the credit card industry, the company produces magnetic strips and holograms that protect the world’s consumers and businesses from counterfeiting and fraud. Beyond innovations in the debit and credit card industry, Hruby’s company also makes heat transfer printing for intravenous solution bags and wood grain laminates for the furniture industry. For his efforts, Hruby was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 1996. He also served as CEO/managing partner of Redshift Capital LLC.

Hruby was a member of North Central College’s Board of Trustees from 1991-2017, serving as Board Chair beginning in 2004 and later as a Life Trustee. He received the Outstanding Alumni Award in 1995 and earned the Gael D. Swing Leadership Award in 2007.
